Join Circus Culture for the premiere of The Making of Self, a contemporary circus show created by Shekinah Williams - a two time winner of the CSAW microgrant for circus artists of color. The show includes dance, acrobatics, juggling, aerial arts, hooping, flag twirling, and tumbling. The show features prominent movement artists living in Ithaca, NY including G-quan Booker, Jessica Brook, Willow Brown, and Shekinah Williams herself.
This show reflects on the notion of commitment, as well as the relationship between the spiritual realm and changes within the mind and body. The show illuminates the universal aches of the world, and draws attention to the power when one’s soul intertwines with another.
This show was created for audiences ages 18+. Younger audiences will not be turned away, but please note that there is adult content in the show, including adult language and depictions of racialized violence.
